Description

** Below is the full Course Description for our course in Beginner Coding with Scratch.  During this special Girl Scouts session, kids that are new to Coding will start at the beginning.  If your daughter has already taken our Coding course before, they will receive a more advanced class commensurate with their skillset. **

Course Description

Scratch is a super-fun way to introduce your child to the wonders of Coding!  DragDropClick… you’ll be amazed at what they can do!  NextGen's curriculum keeps things fresh and introduces kids to new and cool ways to practice, create, and design code with Scratch.

Beginner Coding with Scratch® (Grades 4-5)

NextGen SmartyPants teaches Beginner Coding using the Scratch Graphical Programming Language across four increasingly challenging levels:

  • Level 1 - Introduction to Coding: Sprites, Scripts, Brackdrops, Loops, and Music
  • Level 2 - Broadcasting, Decisions, and Variables
  • Level 3 - Clones, Custom Blocks, and Boolean Logic
  • Level 4 - Controlling Motors and Robotics using Scratch

Each Level contains 10-12 weeks of 1-hour lessons each.  Students are encouraged to re-enroll in Beginner Coding during future weekly Classes or Camps during school breaks in order to gain proficiency in Coding as they progress through each of these levels.  NextGen Teachers adjust the content and curriculum so that each student can pick up where they left off each time.

Refund Policy

If your Student tries and really doesn't our programs, just let us know after the first class and we will refund you completely.  This will allow us to offer the program to other families on the Waitlist.  There are no refunds after the first week.
