Course Description

Scratch is a super-fun way to introduce your child to the wonders of Coding!  Drag, Drop, Click… you’ll be amazed at what they can do!  NextGen SmartyPants's curriculum keeps things fresh and introduces kids to new and cool ways to practice, create, and design code with Scratch.

Junior Coding with Scratch® Junior (Grades K-2)

NextGen SmartyPants teaches Junior Coding using the Scratch Junior Graphical Programming Language across four increasingly challenging levels:

  • Level 1 - Introduction to Coding Concepts
  • Level 2 - Cartoon Animation and Storytelling
  • Level 3 - Playground Games We Play
  • Level 4 - Designing Our Own Video Games

Teachers assess Student skills and any previous Coding experience, and then adjust the curriculum provided to each child accordingly.  If your child has taken Coding with Scratch Junior before, they will be taught
at a higher level of the Coding curriculum to ensure that they are learning new material, challenged at their skill level, and gaining practice in their Coding skills.

Beginner Coding with Scratch® (Grades 3-5)

  • Level 4 - Controlling Motors and Robotics using Scratch

Teachers assess Student skills and any previous Coding experience, and then adjust the curriculum provided to each child accordingly.  If your

NextGen SmartyPants is Closing

After
10-years, NextGen SmartyPants will be closing.  It has been a privilege
to serve you and the children of our community with high-quality STEM
education over these years.  We hope your family will be able to take
advantage of our final programs this year.  Thank you.

At this time, we
are considering opportunities to continue NextGen SmartyPants under new
ownership.  To learn more, please drop an email to Paras Patani at [email protected].

Wait-List

If the course is full, please join the Wait-List.  We use the Wait-List to gauge interest in the program.  If there is enough interest, we will work with the school to add another class or re-run the program next semester.

Expectations

The safety of our Students is our highest priority.

All Students are expected to behave respectfully toward their Teacher and their fellow Students at all times.  Physical violence, foul language, bullying, stealing or throwing of NextGen SmartyPants equipment, or other disrespectful behaviors are strictly prohibited and will be grounds for dismissal from our program without refund.

Student attendance is taken during check-in and check-out during our class each week.  Parents, if you are anticipating your child to be absent from our class. Please notify your child's school administrator, their Teacher at school, and their NextGen SmartyPants Teacher.   A missing child is a terrifying experience for anyone.  Your assistance with this helps us account for the whereabouts of each child.  Thank you, in advance.

Refund Policy

If your child tries our program and really doesn't like it, just let us know after the first class and we will refund you completely.  This will allow us to offer the program to other families on the Wait-List.  Refunds are not offered after the first week of our program.

Payment Plan
For those who prefer it, a Payment Plan is offered at check-out on the following screen.  This plan is optional and is administered by an outside company that charges a nominal fee.

Questions, Concerns, Comments, Requests?
As always, we are available to assist in any way we can.  Just give us a call at (860) 272-4000 or shoot us an email at [email protected].
