Description

9AM-12PM: Introduction to Mobile App Development

Introduction to Mobile App Development introduces students to the process of designing mobile applications using the MIT App Inventor platform on the Android mobile operating system. This course is suitable for beginners with little to no text-based programming experience, making it accessible to a wide range of learners. Students in Grades 5 and 6 are highly recommended to have had previous experience using the Scratch Graphical Programming Language before taking this course.

By the end of this course, students have the skills to design, develop, and publish their own basic Android applications. Whether students aspire to create mobile apps for personal use, or entrepreneurial endeavors or simply want to explore the world of app development, this course provides you with a strong foundation in mobile app development.

12PM-1PM: Lunch Break

Students should bring nut-free lunch, snacks, and juice to eat and enjoy as they get hungry throughout the day.  Water and restrooms are available.  If weather permits, campers will be taken outside to walk and enjoy the playground nearby.

1PM-4PM: Minecraft Coding with Java: Creating Your Own Mods

Explore the world of Minecraft through hands-on coding and game design using Java. In this camp, students actively craft and modify their own Minecraft landscapes, farms, and items while diving into the intricacies of adventure and dungeon map creation.

This program elevates Minecraft skills, and more importantly coding skills, by utilizing Java to delve into modding, unlocking the potential for advanced structures and designs. Students create custom skins, introduce new blocks, and craft innovative items, harnessing the tools and resources provided to enhance their Minecraft experience through coding and game design with Java.
