Description

Course Description

Lions and Tigers and Bears... Oh my!

In Amazing Animals Robotics, students create their own robotic animals. Build them; code them; and then make them RRROOOAARR!!!  Students have fun and learn about engineering, coding, circuits, and sensors as they build Dinosaurs, Dolphins, Panda Bears, and much more.

Each week, students build a different animal robot, learn about the animal and its behavior in its natural habitat, and then are provided instructions on how to build it using LEGO bricks, gears, and pulleys as they learn Engineering concepts. They add motors, circuits, and sensors for the electronics. And then connect via Bluetooth and code their robot to react to its environment autonomously.

Students have fun and apply the Math skills they are learning in school. Your child is sure to have a wild time as they build, learn, and play!

Additional Info for Parents:

Amazing Animals Robotics is an introductory course in Robotics designed for three different age-groups - Ages 4-6, 7-9, and 9-11.  Students are organized by their Age Group and taught Engineering technology, Coding, and Math-application concepts appropriate for their Age Group.  In some projects, Students in each Age Group may begin at the same basic design, and modify them as the class progresses:

  • Advanced Students in Ages 10-and higher may apply skills in introductory Geometry and Algebra typical of Middle School
  • Students Ages 9-11 apply their skills in Division, Ratios, Percentages.
  • Students Ages 7-9 apply their skills in Addition, Subtraction, and Multiplication
  • Students Ages 4-6 apply their skills in Counting, simple Addition, and Fine Motor Skills

The Amazing Animals Robotics contains 18 hours of instruction.

  • For Students who have registered for this program before, but have not yet completed all 18 lessons, NextGen SmartyPants Teachers adjust the curriculum so that they can pick up where they left off.
  • For Students that continue to be interested in Engineering, NextGen SmartyPants also teaches programs in Intermediate Engineers, Advanced Engineers, Pneumatics, and Solar and Renewable Energy that we teach at the Middle School and High School
