Children in this age group can get tired after long day of school and may need to transition to less screen time. In order to accommodate them, each class will begin with Junior Coding and students will have the option to transition to LEGO CITY Design. Course descriptions for both courses are provided for you below:

Junior Coding with Scratch® Junior (Grades K-2)
Scratch is a super-fun way to introduce your child to the wonders of Coding! Drag, Drop, Click… you’ll be amazed at what they can do! NextGen SmartyPants' project-based learning curriculum teaches Students, not just to copy code off of paper, but to learn how to design their own code and create their own Coding solutions to solve problems.
NextGen SmartyPants teaches Junior Coding using the Scratch Junior Graphical Programming Language across four increasingly challenging levels:
Most Students will take this course multiple times in order to learn the more advanced levels of Junior Coding. Each Level contains 10-12 weeks of lessons. If your child has previously enrolled for this course, please let your Teacher know so that they may be provided the more advanced Coding topics listed above. NextGen SmartyPants Teachers assess experiences and group students accordingly into project teams. Students may register for this program during the school year or Winter, Spring, or Summer Recess in order to gain Coding proficiency.
