Course Description
Lions and Tigers and Bears... Oh my!
In Amazing Animals Robotics, students create their own robotic animals. Build them; code them; and then make them RRROOOAARR!!! Students have fun and learn about engineering, coding, circuits, and sensors as they build Dinosaurs, Dolphins, Panda Bears, and much more.
Each week, students build a different animal robot, learn about the animal and its behavior in its natural habitat. Students are then provided instructions on how to build a robotics version of the animal using fun LEGO bricks, gears, and pulleys. As they learn Engineering concepts, they add motors, circuits, and sensors and apply the Math skills appropriate for their grade level. Finally, Students connect their robot via Bluetooth and program it to react to its environment on its own! Students have fun, learn about technology, and see how the Math skills they are learning are applied to the real world. Your child is sure to have a wild time as they build, learn, and play!
Additional Information
In all NextGen SmartyPants classes, it is typical to have students of different grade levels in the same program. Engineering can get 'very' complicated, and NextGen SmartyPants Teachers are trained to truncate the complexity of the lessons to the abilities and the grade level of each child. Further, we align our curricula to the Curriculum Maps of West Hartford Public Schools:
