Description

Sharpen your LEGO skills, because this full-day camp will put LEGO builders to the test!

9AM-12PM: LEGO Minecraft

Let's travel to the Nether, but look out for those Creepers!

Come join us as we bring Minecraft® to life using your creativity and a ton of LEGO® bricks!  Build with your friends and create biomes, mobs, potions, buildings, and your very own Minecraft® character in this engaging and super-fun class!  Then bring them together to create an elaborate Minecraft® landscape!  How well do you think you know Minecraft®?  What will you create?!

Curriculum Notes:

NextGen SmartyPants' LEGO Minecraft course has been so popular with our students, we've created 3-levels of our curriculum!

  1. Cool - Kids build over-world characters and biomes like Animals, Zombies, Villages, and Landscapes
  2. Way Cool - Kids are challenged with more advanced concepts and builds like the Nether, Redstones, Zombie Piglins, Ancient Debris
  3. Super Cool - For the true lover of Minecraft and LEGO, kids explore creating Mesa Biomes, Skulks, Enchantments, Fortress

Whether you're new to LEGO building and the Minecraft game, or a "repeat offender," there's something for everyone in LEGO Minecraft!

12PM-1PM: Lunch Break

Students should bring nut-free lunch, snacks, and juice to eat and enjoy as they get hungry throughout the day.  Water and restrooms are available.  If weather permits, campers will be taken outside to walk and enjoy the playground nearby.

1PM-4PM: Beginner Coding with Scratch - Levels 1-4

Beginner Coding with Scratch® is a super-fun way to introduce your child to the wonders of Coding!  Drag, drop, click… you’ll be amazed at what they can do!  NextGen's curriculum keeps things fresh and introduces kids to new and cool ways to practice, create, and design with Scratch.

NextGen SmartyPants teaches Beginner Coding using the Scratch Graphical Programming Language in the following four increasingly challenging levels:

  • Level 1 - Introduction to Scratch: Sprites, Scripts, Brackdrops, Loops, and Music
  • Level 2 - Broadcasting, Decisions, and Variables
  • Level 3 - Clones, Custom Blocks, and Boolean Logic
  • Level 4 - Controlling Motors and Robotics using Scratch

Students do not need to choose a level prior to enrollment. On the first day of camp, the Teacher will complete an assessment and group students accordingly.  Kids that previously registered for the Level 1 program, will be placed in Level 2, etc.  Each level takes about a week (12-15 contact hours) to complete.
